From the year 2014, FAIRMED FOUNDATION continued to support the Leprosy control activities by partnering with the Anti Leprosy Campaign (ALC), Ministry of Health and with five Districts namely Ampara, Gampaha, Colombo, Puttalam and Hambantota. These districts were selected on the basis of the new case detection rate, whereby two districts were selected from the high prevalence areas, two from low prevalence areas and one from the medium prevalence districts.

Assistance by FAIRMED was directly to the district level and was implemented through the District Health Authorities in the five districts supported by FAIRMED FOUNDATION. In the rest of the districts Anti Leprosy Campaign utilized funds received from the Government and WHO to conduct activities.

All activities at district level are implemented through the Office of the Regional Director of Health Services with the leadership of the Regional Epidemiologist and the Public Health Inspector designated for Leprosy control activities in the district. Patients are diagnosed and treated by the Consultants at the Dermatology clinics situated in the Hospitals. There are 92 Dermatology clinics including 28 Satellite clinics situated in the country.

A Yearly Plan of Operation (YPO) was developed in the five districts by the District Leprosy Teams in consultation with the Anti Leprosy Campaign and FAIRMED under the six outcomes identified in the National Plan of Action for Control of Leprosy, Ministry of Health.
