Current projects in Sri Lanka

In the new multi-year project cycle starting from 2017 to 2021, FAIRMED FOUNDATION strives to work more closely with our partners in Sri Lanka to combat the constant threat that leprosy possesses, especially to poor, disabled and largely vulnerable, and therefore marginalized communities in the country.

Based on the lesson learned over the three decades of participating in the leprosy control programme in Sri Lanka, FAIRMED FOUNDATION has realised that working in a concentrated manner would be more effective, rather than working in many districts in the country. Available resources of FAIRMED would not reach to work in the entire country or in many districts.

Therefore, FAIRMED FOUNDATION, in consultation with Anti Leprosy Campaign, has defined certain criteria to select two districts and one Municipal Council area to implement the current leprosy control programme. Based on these criteria, Ratnapura, Polonnaruwa districts and Colombo Municipal Council area have been selected for implementing the programme with the technical and financial support of FAIRMED FOUNDATION.
