An awareness programme on leprosy was conducted for the residents of Mihindusenpura flats belonging to D3 MOH Office of Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) on the 15th of July, 2021. The programme was conducted by Public Health Inspector for Leprosy of CMC along with the FAIRMED Project Officer in the CMC Office.
An awareness programme on leprosy was conducted for the residents of Wekande Road belonging to the D3 MOH office of Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) on the 20th of November 2021. The programme was conducted by the Public Health Inspector for Leprosy of the CMC along with the FAIRMED Project Officer in the CMC Office.
A special screening clinic for the staff members of the Pradeshiya Sabha was conducted on the 3rd of December 2020 at the auditorium in the Elahera Medical Officer of Health area in the Polonnaruwa District. All the participants were screened for leprosy and other skin diseases and medication was provided accordingly. The screening clinic was conducted with the support of Dr. Sewwandi and her staff of the mobile clinic, the staff of the Regional Epidemiology Unit, the Supervisory Public Health Inspector, Public Health Inspector for Leprosy, Range Public Health Inspector with the support of the Polonnaruwa Project Officer of FAIRMED Foundation.
In an attempt to reduce stigma and discrimination against persons affected with leprosy, a wall art was done at St. Matthew’s College in the D3 area in the Colombo Municipal Council on the 7th of August 2020 as an awareness for the general public. This programme was coordinated by the Public Health Inspector for leprosy, Health Instructor of the area and the Project Officer of FAIRMED Foundation attached to the Colombo Municipal Council.
A ring survey was conducted in Samagipura in the Minneriya area belonging to the Hingurakgoda Medical Officer of Health area in the Polonnaruwa District on the 3rd of July 2020. All the participants were made aware about skin diseases including Leprosy and were screened during this survey. Those in need of further care were referred to the dermatology clinic of the Hingurakgoda Base Hospital. The survey was conducted by the Regional Epidemiologist and staff of the Regional Epidemiology Unit along with the Range Public Health Inspectors of the area.
A ring survey was conducted in the Pahalawela and Mullekumbura villages in the Opanayake Medical Officer of Health area belonging to the Ratnapura District on 17th of June 2020. All the participants were screened during this survey and those who were identified with skin diseases were referred to a clinic the following day, which was conducted by the Medical Officer of Health. Those in need of further care was referred to the dermatology clinic. The survey was conducted by the Medical Officer of Health, District Public Health Inspector for Leprosy, Public Health Inspector of the Hunuwala PHI area and two Public Health Midwives of the area.
A ring survey was conducted in the 2nd canal area in Pulathisi Pedesa of the Thamankaduwa Medical Officer of Health area belonging to the Polonnaruwa District on 30th of May 2020. All the participants were screened and made aware about skin diseases including Leprosy during this survey and they were briefed on COVID -19 too. The survey was conducted by the Regional Epidemiology Unit of Polonnaruwa along with the District Public Health Inspector for Leprosy and Public Health Inspectors of the field.
A House to House survey was conducted on the 20th of May 2020 in the Hingurakgoda MOH area belonging to the Polonnaruwa district. It was conducted in the Yatiyalpathana village in Kaudulla where 67 persons from 32 families were made aware and screened for skin diseases. The progamme was coordinated by the Regional Epidemiology Unit along with the leprosy Public Health Inspector in the district, Supervisory and Range Public Health Inspectors of the MOH area. Approximately 67 persons from 32 families were screened and made aware on skin disease including leprosy.
A House to House Ring Survey was conducted in the 5th Lane area of the Thamankaduwa MOH area in the Polonnaruwa District on May 15th 2020. Approximately 65 persons from 29 families were screened during this activity.
The programme was coordinated by the Regional Epidemiology Unit of the Polonnaruwa District together with the Public Health Inspectors (PHI) of the District. All the participants were made aware about skin diseases including Leprosy and specially on COVID-19 during the programme.
