Community Survey Programme - 2021.03.23,24,25 Balangoda MOH, Ratnapura District

A community survey was conducted in the Diyawinna village in the Balangoda Medical Officer of Health area of Ratnapura District on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March, 2021. All the participants were screened and made aware of skin diseases including Leprosy during this survey. The survey was conducted by the Medical Officer of Health - Balangoda, the Supervisory Public Health Inspector, the Public Health Inspector for Leprosy, the Range Public Health Inspector, Public Health Nursing Sister, Nursing Officers of Balangoda Divisional Hospital with the support of the Ratnapura District Project Officer of FAIRMED Foundation.

Awareness programme on low-cost interventions 2021.02.22

Hingurakgoda MOH area
Polonnaruwa District

As part of the Community-Based Rehabilitation project, an awareness programme on low-cost interventions was conducted on the 22th of February, 2021 at the auditorium of the Hingurakgoda Medical Officer of Health office in the Polonnaruwa District. The programme was conducted for disabled persons, caregivers, public health staff (Public Health Inspectors and Mid Wives), social service officers (including their field staff) and school community (teachers). The programme was conducted by Mrs. Jeevanthi Senevirathna, FAIRMED Project Officer in the Polonnaruwa District and Mr. Nevil Wickramasinghe the Public Health Inspector for Leprosy of the District.

Awareness programme on essential facts about the needs of the differently abled children

Rathanasara Maha Vidyalaya, Lankapura MOH area, Polonnaruwa District

As part of the Community-Based Rehabilitation project, an awareness programme on essential facts about the needs of the differently abled children was conducted on the 26th of January 2021 at the sports complex of the Rathanasara Maha Vidyalaya of the Lankapura Medical Officer of Health area in the Polonnaruwa District for teachers, instructors and directors working with the differently abled children. The programme was conducted by Dr Ajith Kithsiri with the support of the Public Health Inspector for Leprosy along with the FAIRMED Project Officer in the Polonnaruwa District.

Ring Survey - Samupakara Pedesa, Medirigiriya MOH area, Polonnaruwa District

A ring survey was conducted in the Samupakara pedesa of the Medirigiriya Medical Officer of Health area in the Polonnaruwa District on the 19th January 2021. All the participants were screened and made aware of skin diseases including Leprosy during this survey. Those in need of further care were referred to the dermatology clinic in the Medirigiriya Base Hospital. The survey was conducted by the staff of the Regional Epidemiology Unit, Public Health Inspector for Leprosy, Range Public Health Inspectors of the area with the support of the Polonnaruwa District Project Officer of FAIRMED Foundation.

Advocacy Programme for the field officers - Lankapura MOH area, Polonnaruwa

As part of the community-based rehabilitation project, an advocacy programme for the field officers was conducted on 25th January, 2021 at the auditorium of the Divisional Secretariat belonging to Lankapura Medical Officer of Health area in the Polonnaruwa District. The programme was conducted by Dr Ajith Kithsiri with the support of the Public Health Inspector for Leprosy and the FAIRMED Project Officer in the Polonnaruwa District. This programme was supported by the World Health Organization, Sri Lanka.

All the participants were screened and made aware of skin diseases including Leprosy during this survey. The survey was conducted by Regional Epidemiologist and the staff of the Regional Epidemiology Unit, Public Health Inspector for Leprosy, Range Public Health Inspectors of the area with the support of the Polonnaruwa District Project Officer of FAIRMED Foundation.
